Pebbles, coffee, tears and the lake

And as i cried, tears fell into the coffee,

Making little holes into the foamy milk.

They went straight to the bottom,

Cold and as round as perfect spheres.

Laying tranquil, accepting their fate,

To rescue them, i was too late.

Why were my tears so cold?

The coffee was hot, and the tears not so,

So the liquids did not mix.

But my salty tears were confused

How could that coffee be so sweet?

They never got the answer complete.

And I couldn’t stop thinking,

Why were my tears so cold?

After I finally stopped,

They whispered. They confessed.

The tears weren’t tears,

The coffee wasn’t coffee.

Dainty pebbles napping deep down…

Down a lake. A lake that was NOT my coffee

Why were my tears so cold?

Gems, that’s what they were.

And a whole sea, that’s what it was.

Who would believe me if I told the truth?

Would you?

If I delivered their monstrous secret,

That to the bottom, they went to drown.
